Learning Observed
This week the learners got to have an interesting experience. They had to work collaboratively while exploring and experiencing play with a tyre. This is part of a way that we can spark some interesting discussions and writing around a real life experience while gaining new vocabulary. Momo was with her group and discussing the different ways that her and her group could move the tyre. They were very excited and the new vocabulary that came out of this was great to hear. Momo contributed to the discussion but was more interested in how squishy and bendy the tyre was.

Evidence of learning
Momo was having fun testing how squishy it was.

Key Competencies/Vision Principles
“Collaboration” was one of the vision principles that were being used during this activity. “Curious” was another vision principle that was being used as the learners had a lot of questions.

Learning Observed
We have been learning about the art movement Cubism. We have looked at many examples of cubism and have created our own studies using the cubist style. Momo used the elements of shape and fracture as well as using different shades of one colour to create a study of a tree and a painting. Momo used line and colour creatively and dynamically in her tree study and then used confident brush strokes in paint and ink. She then looked at images on the internet to choose an artistic exemplar she was interested in trying. Momo chose an image of a heart and then created her own study using ideas from her artistic exemplar.
Evidence of learning
Momo uses an artistic exemplar to explore ideas about Cubism. She has a clear talent for Visual Art. I can’t wait to see her final work!
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Momo demonstrates the Vision principles of Curiosity in experimenting with and searching for new ideas in cubism, Capability in executing beautiful, bold and expressive artworks and Connected in connecting with what other artists are doing within the art style of Cubism. She uses the Key Competencies of Thinking as she develops her own creativity as well as follow an inquiry process.
